The Project

Car Maintenance is a Progressive Web App (PWA) dedicated to vehicle maintenance tracking, designed for car owners who want to keep their vehicles in perfect condition. The app allows users to log every mechanical service, schedule maintenance reminders and view the complete history of each vehicle. Installable directly on the phone like a native app, it is accessible at any time, even without an internet connection.

As a web development expert, I designed this application to address a concrete need: centralising all vehicle maintenance information in one place. No more lost paper service books or scattered invoices. Car Maintenance offers a reliable digital solution always accessible from your smartphone.

Challenges & Objectives

The main challenge was to create a mobile-first application that is genuinely practical on a daily basis. The tool needed to allow quick logging of each service (oil change, brakes, tyres, MOT, battery) with minimal data entry. The maintenance reminder system had to anticipate upcoming deadlines based on mileage or date, to avoid any costly oversight.

Multi-vehicle management was essential for households with several cars. A complete and exportable service history makes it possible to keep a reliable record for resale or technical inspections. The app needed to work offline thanks to PWA technology, with automatic data synchronisation.

Technologies Used

The application was developed with React and TypeScript to ensure robust and maintainable code. PWA (Progressive Web App) technology enables direct installation on the phone's home screen and offline operation thanks to Service Workers. Local storage ensures data persistence directly on the user's device, without requiring an external server.
