The Project

Creation of the e-commerce shop for Scoot Elec, a retailer specialising in electric scooters. In a rapidly expanding urban mobility market, Scoot Elec offers a complete range of electric scooters for both individuals and businesses. The site needed to offer a shopping experience adapted to technical, high-value products, where detailed information and model comparison play a key role in the purchasing decision.

As a web development expert, I designed an online shop offering a complete catalogue with detailed technical spec sheets for each model, allowing customers to compare essential characteristics (range, power, top speed, charging time, weight) before finalising their purchase. The WooCommerce integration ensures a smooth ordering process with secure payment and delivery tracking suited to bulky products.

Challenges & Objectives

The main challenge was to design an online shopping experience adapted to high-value products requiring in-depth technical presentation. Buying an electric scooter is a significant investment, and customers need to carefully compare the different models according to their technical characteristics, intended use and budget. The model comparison tool needed to facilitate this process in a visual and intuitive way.

Real-time stock management and the integration of secure payment solutions were essential for a product with a high average basket value. The site also needed to inform customers about available grants and subsidies for purchasing an electric vehicle, a major commercial argument. The design needed to reflect the modern and eco-responsible electric mobility universe, in line with the brand's values.

Results

The e-commerce shop allowed Scoot Elec to develop its online sales channel and reach a wider customer base beyond its physical catchment area. Detailed technical specs and the model comparison tool reduced customer service enquiries by answering the most frequently asked questions from buyers. The optimised checkout and secure payment solutions enabled finalising sales of high-value products directly online. The client manages their catalogue and stock autonomously thanks to the WooCommerce admin interface.

Technologies Used

The shop was developed on WordPress with WooCommerce, the reference e-commerce solution for online shops. WooCommerce provides complete management of the catalogue, stock, orders and payment solutions. The theme was customised to meet the specific needs of a technical product catalogue, with custom fields for each scooter's characteristics.
